Cruises for Nature

Over the past 15 years Ornitholidays has established a reputation for running escorted cruises for birdwatchers, naturalists and photographers.
Our suite of tours has gradually expanded to the point where we now offer a wide variety of destinations each year. For 2005 and early 2006 we have printed a cruise brochure under the name of Cruises for Nature which details all of these tours.

The range of these cruises is quite varied and each year we bring in some new destinations. Antarctica is still our most popular cruise, but in 2005 we shall be cruising to Baja and the Sea of Cortez, the Amazon, Spitsbergen, the west coast of South America, and the sub-antarctic islands of New Zealand. We shall soon be repeating our Kamchatka cruise, the Galapagos Islands and our popular one to the Pacific Islands.

We now deal with a number of ships, which we have used over the past few years. The Explorer, the Polar Star, the Kapitan Klebnikov and the Akademik Shokalskiy are just some of them. We are also agents for all of these ships, so even if we do not have an escorted cruise on them we would be happy to make a booking for you on any of the cruises they offer.

If you have not considered this form of holiday before then why not think about some of the many positive reasons for taking one? Firstly, they allow you to visit a wide range of places that are inaccessible by road or even air travel. They allow you to use one comfortable base that has all the facilities of a good hotel – you do not have to keep packing and unpacking as you move from one destination to another. All the vessels we use have support staff, backed up with experienced resident naturalists, who increase the enjoyment of the experience, by giving you those extra snippets of useful information. The meals are normally first rate, and if you feel like taking the day off to relax and do nothing – there is no problem. For the photographer these cruises normally offer amazing opportunities and it is not uncommon for some people to take over 2,500 photos on some of these holidays! All in all cruising is a great way to travel and to see the world and its wildlife.
